The Space Between Marks
A reflection on pauses, edges, and the open spaces that allow a painting to breathe.

A painting is shaped by what is placed on the surface and by what is allowed to remain open. The intervals between marks can hold a surprising amount of energy.
Sometimes a pause gives the eye a place to rest. Sometimes it makes a nearby gesture feel more immediate. These spaces are not empty in the ordinary sense; they are part of the composition's quiet structure.
